Pho delivery robot first appeared in Vietnam

Did you know that Last-Mile Delivery costs are very high right now and can account for up to 53% of total shipping costs. That is the problem and the solution has been said by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh – former Director of Grab Vietnam – that he has just established a startup to develop autonomous delivery robots, applications in the field of food delivery and delivery.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh – former Director of Grab Vietnam – first appeared in front of the media after a year and a half leaving the position of General Director of VinID.

Appeared at the National Scientific Conference “Developing the service industry in the process of industrialization and modernization to 2030, with a vision to 2045” as co-founder and CEO of Alpha Asimov Robotics – a startup focuses on research and development of the first self-propelled delivery robot in Vietnam.

“Alpha Asimov chose to research and develop autonomous robots, because we see this product as a trend in technology development of the future and can help significantly reduce the price of delivery services. Last-Mile Delivery service costs (last mile delivery to users) are very high, which can account for up to 53% of the total shipping costs, which means that the cost of shipping from abroad to the warehouse in Vietnam is still cheaper. shipping from the warehouse to the buyer’s house,” Mr. Tuan Anh said.

“So if we automate and increase efficiency at this stage, it will lead to huge cost savings for end users, helping to control inflation and economic growth. Currently, there are many in the world. Big tech companies like Amazon, Alibaba are starting to test delivery by this autonomous robot.”

According to the introduction, Alpha Asimov is researching and developing delivery robots capable of running autonomously. The robot is 1m long, 80cm wide and 60cm high, moves at a speed equivalent to a bicycle, at 15-25 km/h.

The robot has a payload of 50kg and can carry 5 pizzas or 10 bowls of pho.

Autonomous vehicles have 5 levels: (1) have some supporting features; (2) co-pilot in some easy situations; (3) the vehicle is autonomous but still requires an observer and quick response; (4) people rarely intervene and the car still stops automatically when there is a problem; (5) no need for humans. Mr. Tuan Anh said Alpha Asimov’s robot is self-propelled at level 3 and is about to switch to level 4.

According to Statista estimates, the global Last-Mile Delivery market by 2027 will reach $200 billion. The self-propelled robot delivery market alone will reach $41 billion by 2027.
